Larson guide
Body Shapes & Tonewoods
A simple guide to choosing the right Larson voice.
Choosing an acoustic guitar is not only about how it looks. The body shape and the woods both play a major part in how the guitar feels, responds and speaks.
Shape
Body Shapes
Each Larson body shape changes the way the guitar sits against you, responds to the hand and projects into the room.
Maurer Concert
Compact, clear and easy to control.
The Concert is the smallest Larson body shape. It has a quick response, clear note separation and a controlled low end. It suits fingerstyle, light strumming and players who want an intimate, comfortable guitar with plenty of detail.
Stahl OO
Focused, warm and direct.
The OO adds a little more body and warmth while keeping the feel compact and responsive. It is a strong choice for blues, folk, fingerstyle and players who want a woody voice without too much boom.
EuphonenOOO
Open, balanced and expressive.
The OOO gives more depth, volume and openness than a OO, while still keeping good balance across the strings. It suits players who want a fuller sound without moving into a large-bodied guitar.
Grand OM
Versatile, articulate and full.
The Grand OM is the most versatile shape in the Larson range. It has clarity for fingerstyle, enough power for strumming and a balanced voice that works across many styles. If you want one guitar to cover the widest ground, start here.

Wood
Tonewoods
The top, back and sides help colour the voice of the guitar, from dry and direct to deep and complex.
Spruce Tops
Clear, responsive and dynamic.
Alpine and Moon spruce give brightness, projection and definition. They respond well to a light touch but have enough strength for harder playing.
Mahogany
Warm, dry and direct.
Mahogany has a strong midrange and a clear fundamental note. It feels woody, honest and immediate.
Rosewood
Rich, deep and complex.
Rosewood gives more bass, shimmer and harmonic depth. Indian rosewood is rich and familiar. Madagascar rosewood has a more refined character with complex overtones.
Walnut
Balanced, clear and natural.
Walnut gives a balanced voice with clear note definition, natural warmth and a controlled low end. It sits between the dry directness of mahogany and the richer depth of rosewood.
Tasmanian Blackwood
Rich,warm and refined
Tasmanian blackwood offers the warmth and richness of mahogany with added clarity and shimmer. It has a balanced voice with strong midrange, sweet overtones and a smooth, responsive character that suits both fingerstyle and strumming.
